Can’t Be Quiet Any Longer!

Hitler-TrumpI can’t be quiet any longer! I just can’t!! My self imposed muteness must end. The shit pile we call a country was going down the crapper at a parabolic pace, and there didn’t seem that anything could be done on this end. The louder I screamed, the worse it got.
Many want to blame it on Obama, or the Republican controlled congress. Others take aim at Wall Street, or the Military-Industrial Complex. Still others hold the media responsible, be it liberal or conservative. Me??? I blame them all!
We, as a general populace, are screwed daily, from multiple directions, and from multiple uninvited parties. People into BDSM call it “Air Tight”. Which is what this poltico-socio-economic system we’ve come to accept; that represses, suppresses, and oppresses the vast majority of us in ways we may not even comprehend; seems to be for the very few who thrive splendidly in it.
That said, it is not the butt-fucking of the masses by the “of, for, and by the people” mirage that has me back on my cyber pulpit. NOPE! It’s actually the possibility that we could be repeating the unquestionably ugliest chapter in human history, a mere 71 years after the nightmare ended. In case you haven’t read your history, there was a man who rallied a disgruntled electorate behind a culture of distrust, and eventually hatred, of minorities; a belief that their society was superior to all others; and savagely, and eventually murderously, enforced their dogma with a goon squad made up of angry, violent sociopaths.
In the video below, you can see how Donald Trump’s legions treat anyone who does not espouse the same ideals as their vaunted leader. It doesn’t matter if you are vocal protestor, a silent observer, or even a legitimate journalist trying to make your living covering the front runner for the Republican Presidential nomination … you are fair game for a beat down:

The rabid staunchness of his supporters – and the lengths they will go to in order to defend his inane, if not inhumane, tenets – is eerily similar to the early days of what would become the Third Reich. His henchmen, hauntingly reminiscent of what would become the SS. His xenophobia, Islamophobia, and self-admitted chiraptophobia; strikingly similar to the many psychosis exhibited by Adolph Hitler, himself.
I guess it’s not surprising to see the ugly head of fear, race/religion-baiting, and bullying take hold of a significant portion of the public. After all, there is great discord going on in this country. Besides, most of the population can’t name the Vice President, much less remember the murderous crimes against humanity committed by a psychotic, paranoid, schizophrenic and his followers last century. Though, if you were to actually study some history, you might find the parallels unnerving. You might even find yourself wanting to stand up to the insanity and say “ENOUGH!”. I know I do.

Please, Secede!

Secede Bumper StickerIf you haven’t heard, several states have issued post-election secession petitions to the White House. Gun sales have also skyrocketed since President Obama won a convincing reelection bid last week. Some are now correlating that these two responses portend an impending Civil War II. While I won’t argue the ridiculousness of that assertion, based on the fact that the vast majority of the population in those states oppose such a radical reaction to a Black man inhabiting the Oval Office, I will offer a simple peaceful solution to the remote possibility that Americans will once again take up arms against each other: LET THEM SECEDE!

It’s not so much that many of these “America: Love It, Or Leave It!” bumper sticker toting hypocrites, who don’t believe in science; the separation of church and state; or true individual liberty, are trying to drag the rest of us into an apocalyptic quagmire they gleefully call “The Rapture”. It’s more that while they claim to want the feds to stop giving handouts to the so-called “takers” in this country, it is actually them that are the true recipients of handouts from “big government”. Yep! THEY are the ones creating a real drag on our economy and inflating our national debt with their insatiable hunger to suck on the tax-payer-teat. Six, count ’em, six of the top-ten per-capita recipients of federal assistance dollars are states that are leading this secession campaign.

I say, let ’em go! We’ll save money, we’ll instantly raise the IQ level of our country, and we’ll have a neighboring country to whom we can export the high tech products we will be producing: from alternate energy sources to efficient cars, innovative communications to cutting-edge entertainment, and new medical breakthroughs to natural resources. It will also make it much easier for the elected representatives that remain, the majority of which will come from “Blue States” based on the states leading this new Confederate charge, to move forward with the business of governing the country rather than trying to negotiate with reactionaries that are more committed to filibusters and political ideology than to compromise and real patriotism.

In short, it will be an expeditious way to clean the American gene pool, and get this country back on a track that honors and respects individual freedom, intelligent discourse, and the American tradition of including the “huddled masses yearning to breathe free”. Besides, if you truly want to leave this country because a person of color has become your leader, you were never a true American to begin with … and, please, let the door hit you in the ass on your way out!

Bin Laden’s Free Pass

WARNING: THIS BLOG MAY CONTAIN EXPLICIT LANGUAGE AND/OR ADULT THEMES

A report from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee released over the weekend details the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld blunder in 2001 that let Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden escape certain capture in the hills above Tora Bora. Apparently, American troops and their Afghan allies had bin Laden cornered and frantically called for reinforcements to complete the job. But, not only were their requests denied, they were ordered not to block any potential escape routes in any way!
Before you say, “Oh, that’s bullshit! Never happened!!”, here is an excerpt from the actual report:
“On or around Dec. 16, two days after writing his will, [Osama] bin Laden and an entourage of bodyguards walked unmolested out of Tora Bora and disappeared into Pakistan’s unregulated tribal area. Most analysts say he is still there today.
Fewer than 100 American commandos were on the scene with their Afghan allies and calls for reinforcements to launch an assault were rejected. Requests were also turned down for U.S. troops to block the mountain paths leading to sanctuary a few miles away in Pakistan.”
You should be saying, “Are you fucking kidding me??? Public Enemy #1 (with a bullet) was given a free pass?!?!?” Not surprising, really … if you look between the lines to see the reality of the situation.
The spin on this story is that even if bin Laden was caught or killed the war in Afghanistan wouldn’t have changed much from what we face today, and that he would have been made a poster-child martyr for Al Qaeda recruitment for years to come. While the latter assertion merits some consideration the former is not only full of holes, it is the very reason he was allowed to take a Sunday walk into the mountains of Pakistan.
When the tragedy now known as 9-11 happened, OBL was the face of responsibility that was put on it. The “War On Terror” was born with bin Laden as the target for success. Thus, if he had been “taken down” on that December day the “War On Terror” would have effectively been over before it was allowed to consume our attention and resources – both, financial and human. The Bush gang wouldn’t have been able to pursue the Taliban, which was used as the “logical” launching point for senselessly going into Iraq to hunt down the “guy who tried to kill my (Bush’s) father”.
Get it yet? Cheney wouldn’t have been able to make a disgusting fortune from his warmongering stake in Halliburton (anybody find that missing $9 billion, yet?); Bush and Rumsfeld wouldn’t have been able to make similar profits from their oil & gas investments that soared as the conflicts fueled a manipulated spike in the energy complex; and the right-wingers wouldn’t have been able to have their man in the White House for an additional four years, as a war-President is rarely voted out of office.
That’s right, they let the most sought after man in the world get away in the name of money and power. Like I said, not a big surprise. Appalling, yes. Disconcerting, absolutely. But, shocking? Not really. If you look at most of the decisions made by these Nazi-youth rejects you find that love of the almighty dollar and narcissistic hegemonic hunger are usually the motivating factors.
So, instead of claiming a quick victory in this war, that is beginning to span a second generation, we have squandered billions of dollars that could have solved all of our domestic crises – including healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Plus, we could have funded 100 “Manhattan Projects” to address our dependance on foreign oil (interesting how it always comes back to oil). Worst of all, these selfish and disturbing decisions have led to the loss of over 5,000 of America’s finest and physically changed the lives of over 50,000 (not to mention the mass psychological damage to our troops that never makes it into the casualty reports).
In effect, this miscarriage of responsiblity has done more damage to our country than bin Laden and Al Qaeda could have ever managed to accomplish themselves. Between accosting the Geneva Convention, lying to the country about the necessity for the Iraq invasion, and now the revelations that they aided and abetted our nation’s supposed biggest enemy, it is amazing to me that these repugnant crap-weasels haven’t been brought up on charges.
Enough with the Tiger Woods domestic crash coverage, people! THIS is the story we should be discussing, ad nauseum!! But, I guess everyone else would rather wallow in their ignorant stupor, watch another episode of Jon & Kate Plus Eight, and delude themselves that Michaele and Tareq Salahi are the real news story of the day. Well, not me, dickwads … not me!

Why all the fuss, Rush?

October 16, 2009 6 comments

The incredible noise surrounding Rush Limbaugh’s attempt to be part of a group seeking to buy the NFL’s St. Louis Rams has become quite deafening.  He is claiming that he is being discriminated against and, in essence blackballed, from owning a National Football League team.  He bases that claim on the fact that his proposed inclusion in the bidding process by this particular group of investors was going to be opposed by the Player’s Union, as well as some of the more powerful minority groups in this country, for his numerous off-color and even racist comments in regards to the NFL and it’s players.

We could sit here and debate the man’s First Amendment rights, or whether or not a known drug abuser is fit for NFL ownership. We could argue if the NFL is a closed organization that has the right to determine who is part of their “club”.  We could talk about whether or not he has ever truly recanted his intolerant comments towards the players and the league.

But, all of those subjects, which Rush has been wrapping himself up in the last few days, are not and have never been moot.  That’s because the right-wing talk-show host has created this huge media morass after he was withdrawn from the interested investment group, by the group themselves.  That’s right … his own peeps didn’t want him anymore!  It wasn’t a liberal/minority conspiracy or lack of “American convictions” by the league and it’s ownership.  It was simply that Rush’s own people couldn’t afford the liability he represents if they were to make a successful bid … or perhaps they were just tired of hearing him talk.

So, we can spend all our time deliberating these hypothetical rhubarbs.  Or, we can devote our attention to some of the more pressing matters facing our country like jobs, the economy, healthcare, energy, or the recent story that the Arctic ice cap will possibly fully melt this coming summer.  Somehow, I think Rush will stay with the more selfish debate.  I just hope the rest of us can rise above the din.

Decisions, Decisions!

The current economic crises has put many of us on the financial brink.  As a result, we have had to make very hard decisions on where and how we spend the money we do have.   For many, it has been a choice of whether or not to continue insuring their car, their house, or even themselves.

I have several friends that have been debating, or already chosen, whether they should keep their health insurance vs. their home insurance.  Granted, health insurance has become a much larger portion of everyone’s economic expense pie than has insurance for their abode.  However, the choice has still been health or home – along with some other discretionary expenditures to make up the difference.

For me, the choice would be easy.  I have always been a firm believer that if you have your health (and the love of your family) you have it all.  Others have said that you have to ensure the roof over your family’s head will not be threatened.  While I agree with that, by not having health insurance for your entire family, you are putting your home and your family’s security at great risk.  Should a major health crises arise, you could be on the hook for thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.  If you are being forced into making a decision on whether or not to insure, you certainly don’t have the cash position to cover that kind of expense.  The result will most likely be bankruptcy, and the loss of your house anyway.  For others, though, the choice has been for the material rather than the ethereal.

I’m interested to see how others feel on this tough decision.  Please, log your choice on the poll above.

Don’t cry for me, Brazil

For those of you Windy Cityers still reeling after last week’s International Olympic Committee decision as to which city will host the 2016 games … Get over it!  Bottom line: Most Chicagoans didn’t want the games. IOC saw that and hit the ejector button. NNNNNNNNNNNNN … thanks for playing, Chicago!

And, don’t go crying over the “spilt milk” of a possible economic boon for the city.  The ‘84 Olympics were no windfall for LA. Granted, the Russians pulled out (as a shtup for the US not showing up in ‘80 because of the Russian invasion of Afghanistan), and the attendance dropped precipitously. But, those expecting to profit from reselling tickets, renting their house or apartment/condo for big buckaroos, or just hoping for whirlwind business from their everyday livelihoods, were sorely disappointed.

Hats off to Brazil. This is something that they wanted, not just for themselves, but for all of South America – a continent long overdue for an extended visit from the 5-rings flag. And, for those who think that they won’t be able to pull it off, don’t bet against this emerging market juggernaut. They are on pace to be the world’s 5th largest economy by the time the athletes march into the stadium for opening ceremonies. Yes, the Chinese set the bar very high last year in Beijing. But, the Brazilians know how to put on a huge party. I can’t wait to see what happens when Olympic and Mardi Gras spirit combine for the 2016 Summer Games.

If it’s any consolation to Chicagoans still licking their wounds from the bitter disappointment of being the first finalist dismissed … I liked your logo the best!
